Building Bright Futures

 

A volunteer tutoring program founded in 1987 at CTK to help disadvantaged youth in southeast Pulaski County. Children are brought in and fed supper, followed by a brief speaker, then tutoring. Volunteers meet with their student for one hour every Tuesday evening during the school year. Needed: tutors, substitute tutors, kitchen staff and speakers.

Dress for Success

 

Once a month, women's professional clothing is collected to donation to the Dress for Success program here in Little Rock. DFS offers women training to enter or re-enter the job market and also provides clothing suitable for job interviews and office work.

Elizabeth Ministry  

 

A one-on-one ministry designed to help build community among women of all ages and in all states of life. One focus of this international movement is to support women and their families during the joys, trials and sorrows of the childbearing years. The ministry offers peer support, mentoring, spiritual nourishment, educational and inspirational resources drawn from the life experiences of fellow parishioners.

Faithful Friends (Cancer Support Group) 

 

A support group for women whose lives have been affected by cancer. This group meets informally on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the CTK Ministries Building. Needed: Assistance for those needing help with meals, transportation, etc.

Giving Tree/Giving Table

 

During Advent, a special opportunity is given to provide food and gifts for the poor in the Little Rock community.  Watch for information in the church vestibule.

Honduras Mission
 

An evangelical, medical and construction mission to Trujillo, Honduras, and surrounding areas. Collection of supplies is year-round. This mission trip is usually in the summer. Needed: Missionaries and materials.

Kairos

 

An international ecumenical ministry to prisons that brings the love of Christ to all incarcerated individuals, their families and those who work with them and to assist in the transition of becoming a productive citizen. Individuals are needed to work on the teams, pray, bake cookies and donate food or supplies. Needed: Volunteers and cookies!

M.O.M.S. Pantry (Food Donation)

 

Ministry of Mothers Sharing (M.O.M.S.) sponsors a monthly food donation program in which grocery sacks with lists of needed items attached are distributed at all of the Masses on the 2nd weekend of each month. The following (3rd) weekend, donations are collected in the church vestibule and distributed to various charitable agencies.

Our House Cooks

 

Two groups of parishioners prepare and serve a meal once a month at the Our House shelter downtown. Needed:  Cooks and substitute cooks.

ShareFest

A community based event designed to put faith into action. CTK joins with other area churches to work on projects benefiting the community at large. Usually held in November. Needed: Volunteers, materials and donations (food, children's coats, toys). A Blood Drive is also held.

St. Joseph's Helpers

St. Joseph's Helpers serves women as an emergency pregnancy peer counseling and referral service. They minister to and serve pregnant women who find themselves in a crisis situation. Volunteers are needed to answer the phone, provide peer counseling, packaging items for moms and babies. Donations of infant supplies and maternity clothes are welcomed.

Diocesan Hispanic Ministry

Promotes, coordinates and provides resources to minister to Hispanic Catholics throughout the state. Each parish in the Diocese supports this effort financially and spiritually. This ministry is looking for bilingual volunteers to assist in communication efforts.

Helping Hand

Helping Hand provides assistance to the poor and needy of the Central Arkansas community. Basic needs such as food, clothing, medical supplies and limited financial assistance for rent and utilities are available. The goal is to offer hope and encouragement in order to foster self-sufficiency for the poor. Volunteers are needed to bag food, fold clothes, talk with clients, work in the clothing store, pick up donations from donors and substitute.

LifeQuest, founded in 1981, is a volunteer-operated, non-profit for older adults. The organization is dedicated to enhancing life's journey through the middle and later years through life-long learning and meaningful volunteerism. Adventures in Learning classes provide intellectual and social stimulation for active adults of all ages and eight Civic Services, geared for adults 55+,  help older adults remain independent and in their own homes.

Designed to help heal and renew couples in troubled and stressed marriages.  The word "retrouvaille" means rediscovery. It is a program that offers couples the chance to rediscover themselves, their spouse and a loving marital relationship.

Westside Free Medical Clinic

Westside Clinic serves people unable to obtain health care. The pharmacy assists with prescriptions for clinics. Open on Wednesday evenings at Camp Aldersgate. Healthcare nurses, doctors and pharmacists are needed. Call for appointment.
